They participated in Desert Storm aboard the USS Roosevelt (CVN-71) and are still attached to that aircraft carrier based out of NAS Norfolk shipyard, the largest naval facility in the world. This the black-bordered variant of the squadron patch. |

They are part of the CVW-8 airwing and were established in June 1952. They were the first East Coast squadron to replace their SH-3Hs with the newer Sikorsky SH-60F in a ceremony in August 1991. They participated in Operation Desert Storm aboard the USS Saratoga (CV-60), then transitioned to the T.R. They have since supplemented their aircraft inventory with 2 strike rescue versions of their helicopter, the HH-60Hs. This is the "large" version of their squadron patch. |
