The squadron's first predecessor was the World War I 840th Aero Squadron, which was organized on 1 February 1918 and, after training in Texas, served in France as a depot unit. It returned to the United States in the March 1919 and was demobilized. The 128th Observation Squadron was allotted to the Georgia National Guard and was organized in May 1941. Four months later it was mobilized, and trained in aerial reconnaissance. In June 1942, the squadron began antisubmarine patrol missions over the Gulf of Mexico, being redesignated as the 21st Antisubmarine Squadron in the spring of 1943. After the Navy assumed control of the squadron's mission, it began training as a heavy bomber unit as the 818th, then the 840th Bombardment Squadron. This is the "MEN IN BACK" (MIB) crest patch worn by those who operate the systems and manage/control the theater ground battle from the back of the jet. I found this patch in a Korean embroidery shop, has the 'theater-made' feel to it with a 'cut-edge' border and twill background, and does not have velcro attached.

This is a 9-11 Memorial Patch. Very simple and elegant patch. It's done in a pentagon shape with the twin towers forming the 11 in 9-11-01. It has the American flag at the bottom and states "REMEMBER" across the middle. This patch does not have velcro attached.

This is the AWACS 9-11 Commerative Patch. It has 09 11 01 across the top rocker. It shows a phoenix in red, white and blue with the twin towers and the Pentagon in the middle. Across the bottom rocker it states in Latin "Ascendimuys Potentiores" which I believe means rise again stronger. Beautiful Patch!

The 5th Expeditionary Airborne Command and Control Squadron (EACCS) is a provisional squadron of the USAF. It is assigned to Pacific Air Forces to activate or inactivate as needed. The squadron was formed as the 5th Airborne Command and Control Squadron (ACCS) in 1985 by the consolidation of the 25th Antisubmarine Squadron, an Army Air Forces unit that served in the American Theater of World War II and the 25th Special Operations Squadron, a training unit during the Vietnam War. The squadron was not active after the merger of these two units. It was converted to expeditionary status in 2015! This patch was found in a little old Korean 'sweat-shop', comes in very limited quantities, and does not have velcro attached.

The tagline of ÒProbably SunkÓ was pulled from a New York Times headline detailing the 2nd Antisubmarine SquadronÕs successful combat mission against German U-boats in the Atlantic. Despite proof of both the bow and stern of one of the U-boats pointing skyward after a strike, analysts provided the understated assessment of the boats being ÒProbably SunkÓ to the press. It says 'PROBABLY SUNK' and shows (either) 'GOOFY' or 'PLUTO' standing on a cloud looking into a submarine's periscope. I'm sure there is a.good story behind this design! This patch does come with velcro attached.

(Another AV8RSTUFF Creation): This is the 2019 Detachment patch created for the 12 Air Command and Control Squadron (ACCS) located at Robins AFB, GA for one of their deployments. The 12th Air Commando Squadron, codenamed ÒRanch Hand,Ó flew anti-foliage missions throughout Vietnam unarmed and unescorted for the majority of their time in theater. The intent of their missions was to deny the enemy use of the thick rainforests that provided concealment for their lines of communication, but to do so meant flying low, slow and well behind enemy lines. The tagline of ÒOnly YOU can prevent a forestÓ is the unofficial motto of Ranch Hand, parodying Smokey the BearÕs famous motto. This patch does come with velcro attached.

This is the 24th EADS patch. It is a legacy patch for the current 127th ADS that is performing the JADOC (Joint Air Defense Operations Center) mission. The 127th ADS is the USAF squadron located in the nation's capital at a secure location, the JADOC houses dozens of servicemen and women whose mission is to work daily around the clock to track and identify every aircraft that approaches the U.S. National Capital Region airspace. As a part of the CONR mission, JADOC was created after the 9/11 attacks on the Pentagon, the World Trade Center and United Airlines Flight 93.
