I don't have any info on this patch, other than to say it came in with tons of other USN items. Anyone have any info, I'd appreciate it. I do know it's from a VAW (E-2C Hawkeye) squadron initially, but since then, several have adopted it as a Friday patch. It has the character from "The Family Guy" (I think) that's always saying something similar to this. Any more info would be appreciated.

Established in October 1968, they fly the E-2C Hawkeye out of NAS Norfolk, VA, as the only airborne early warning role for the carrier battle group. Heavily involved in Desert Storm, the "Tigertails" were credited with controlling two F/A-18C Hornets that shot down two MiG-21s on January 17, 1991. Currently deployed on the USS Eisenhower (CVN-69) with CVW-17.

This patch was sent by the VAW-125 Tigertails and depicts the plight of the Naval Officers during the years of '93-'95. The manning shortfall for those year groups kind of makes a "T" in their manning diagrams. That's where the "T" in T-notch comes from. It stems from the Navy RIF'ing too many people during the draw down of the early 90's. Guys in those year groups are pretty much assured of promotion since they are so hurting for people. That's the story behind it.

This is the color version of the blank nametags for the pilots of VAW-126. I found these in a drawer at a "little old lady's" business that used to make all the NAS Norfolk nametags.

The patch shows a tailhook and a lighting bolt covered by VAW-126 mascot the "Seahawk". It says "CLOSEOUT" across the top. This patch does not come with velcro attached.

The VAW-127 "Seabats" were stood up in 1982 and were part of the CVW-13/USS CORAL SEA team until disestablishment in 1991.
