The "Knighthawks" of VFA-136 fly the F/A-18C Hornet as part of CVW-7 from the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). They were established in July 1985 and received their first 'night attack' Hornet in November 1990. They participated in Desert Shield, but returned home from deployment before hostilities began.

The 'Pukin Dogs' of VF-143 began existance as VF-871, a Reserve squadron activated for the Korean War in July 1950. They flew F-4J Phantoms until 1974 when they transitioned to the F-14A Tomcat. They made their first Tomcat cruise aboard the USS America (CV-66) in April 1976. They transitioned to several carriers, but remained with the same battlegroup/CVW and was paired with VF-142 before their decommissioning. They are currently paired with VFA-11 in CVW-7 since transitioning to the F/A-18 Hornet.

The "Argonauts" of VA-147 were the first Fleet squadron to fly the A-7A Corsair II. They were established in February 1967, and have since converted to the F/A-18C Hornet in the mid-80s as VFA-147. This is the heritage patch from that squadron. They fly the Hornet with CVW-9 onboard the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74).

The 'Vigilantes' of VFA-151 fly the F/A-18C Hornet out of NAS Lemoore, CA. Their lineage dates to August 1948 as VF-23, then underwent several designator changes before finally becoming the name of today on June 1986. They flew multiple variants of the F-4 Phantom before transitioning to the Hornet in '86.

The VFA-154 'Black Knights' were established in February 1951, then designated as VF-154 in February 1953. They flew the F-4S Phantom before transitioning to the F-14A Tomcat and now to the F/A-18F Hornet. This is their new squadron patch representative of their switch to the Hornet.

This is the squadron patch for the VFA-192 World Famous Golden Dragons that are based out of NAS Atsugi, Japan. They originally were commissioned as VF-153 in March 1945, but became VA-192 in March 1956. They flew the FJ-4B and the A-7 Corsair, but were redesignated as VFA-192 in January 1985 and acquired the F/A-18C Hornet during a ceremony at Pearl Harbor as the USS Midway was heading to retirement, and cross-decked over to the USS Independence.

The "Black Lions" of VFA-213 first flew F-4B Phantoms for many years, then were transitioned to the F-14A Tomcat, and have since transitioned to the F/A-18 Hornet. The squadron embarked on their first Tomcat cruise as part of CVW-11 onboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) in October 1977, and their last Tomcat cruise in late 2005/early 2006. They were one of two F-14 Tomcat squadrons during the final Tomcat cruise (VF-31 was the other). This is the current color version of their Hornet squadron patch.
