The 'Fighting Renegades' of VF-24 was established in June 1955 as VF-211, then redesignated to it's current in March 1959. They began converting to the F-14A Tomcat in November 1975. The were stationed at NAS Miramar, but have since been decommissioned. This patch was created to show that they were the first Tomcat squadron to drop "bombs". In the background, you can see the "Chocolate Mountains" at El Centro, CA.

This is the 1997 "Med Cruise" patch created for the VF-41 Black Aces. They were deployed on the JFK for their summer enjoyment.

This is the 1993 "Adversary Cruise" patch created for the VF-41 Black Aces. Notice that "Cruise" is in quotations, as they never set sail, but were TDY to Vegas, Key West, Cold Lake (Canada), Luke AFB, and NAS Fallon.

This design was created for the Black Aces final cruise, but this particular patch has been made with the Pakistani "bullion" threading to make it more of a special commemorative patch. It is very nice.

The "Black Aces" of VF-41 operated the F-14A out of NAS Oceana, VA. Callsign "Fast Eagle", they were established in September 1950 and transitioned from the F-4Ns in April 1976 to their current platform. In August 1981, the Black Aces downed 2 Su-22 "Fitter" fighters after being attacked during an exercise. They participated in several exercises and flew from the decks of several carriers. They also shifted to the USS Lincoln (CVN-72) for 'cleanup' operations at the end of Desert Storm. They currently are with CVW-8.

This is the "Friday" patch worn by the "Black Aces" of (then) VF-41. They have since transitioned to the F/A-18 and are now known as the VFA-41 "Black Aces" flying out of NAS Lemoore, CA.

The 'Screaming Eagles' of VF-51 received their first F-14A Tomcats in June 1978 after a long and distinguished career in the F-4 Phantom. Most of the flying scenes done for TOPGUN, the movie, were by this squadron.

The original "Jolly Rogers" were from VF-84, but have an interesting squadron history. They were initally designated as VA-86 on 1 July 1955, but were redesignated to VF-84 on the same day! They were the second squadron to bear the VF-84 designation and bore the proud "Skulls and Crossbones" as their markings. They flew the F-4N Phantoms before transitioning to the F-14A Tomcat, but were decommissioned in the early '90s. They were also the squadron used in the Seagal movie, "Executive Decision", flying intercepts off the coast of Key West. This is the 1995 patch created for their decommissioning noting their legacy and history.

VF-103 had one of their TARPS-birds shot down by an optical SA-2 derivative in Desert Storm with the pilot being rescued and the RIO becoming a POW. This is the "transition" patch created for the transfer of the "Jolly Rogers" name.
