They were established in July 1955, and transitioned from the F-4J Phantom to the F-14A Tomcat in July 1981. It's decom ceremony was held on 16 Feb 95 in Miramar along with VF-51, cancelling the plans of these two squadrons to be the first F-14D models. This was the "SUNSET" (red/white) version of their aircraft triangle they wore on the right sleeve of their flight suits. |

VF-114 Aircraft Patch (Desert) Size: 4 1/2" In Stock: >5 Price: $8.00 The 'Aardvarks' flew the F-14A Tomcat out of NAS Miramar. Their mascot was the creature "Zot" from B.C. Comics. They transitioned from the Phantom to the Tomcat in December 1975, and made several West coast cruises paired with VF-213 before being decommissioned. This is the desert version of the aircraft triangle worn on the right sleeve of their flightsuit. |

VF-124 Aircraft Patch Size: 5" In Stock: >5 Price: $7.00 The 'Gunfighters' of VF-124 were established as VF-53 in August '48, then redesignated to their current designation in April '58. They were the West Coast RAG (Training Squadron) that trained the pilots and RIOs for the F-14 Tomcat. They were decommissioned when all the CONUS Tomcat squadrons were moved to the Master Jet Base NAS Oceana. |
