Training Squadron Nineteen Size: 3 3/4" In Stock: >5 Price: $7.00 The VT-19 "Fighting Frogs" operated out of NAS Meridian, MS flying the T-2C Buckeye and TA-4J Skyhawk. They were established in August 1971 at McCain Field to provide advanced jet training to naval aviators in the jet pipelines, but have since been decommissioned. The VT-19 Attack Frogs are unfortunately no longer in existence and they changed their name back to it's original, VT-9. The VT-19 flew T-2C's, but the now current VT-9 is transitioning from the T-2C to the T-45C. |

VT-35 Squadron Patch (Des) Size: 3 3/4" In Stock: >5 Price: $7.00 The Stingrays, based at NAS Corpus Christi, TX, fly the TC-12B Huron, the military version of the Beechcraft King Air 200. They provide advanced training for future Navy P-3 pilots and Air Force C-130 pilots, and, more recently, intermediate training for Marine MV-22 pilots. The squadron is the only advanced joint leadership (USN and USAF) flight training squadron in the military. VT-35 was established on 29 October 1999 under the leadership of an Air Force Lieutenant Colonel - the first time that a Navy command was established under the leadership of a US Air Force Commanding Officer. This is the desert version of the VT-35 Stingrays Squadron Patch. They are located and fly out of NAS Corpus Christi, TX. VT-35 was established 29 Oct 99. All of the Navy's TC-12B trainers are in VT-35 at NAS Corpus Christi, and all of the Navy's T-44 trainers are in VT-31 at NAS Corpus Christi. These two squadrons train all multi-engine prop pilots in the Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard and their students are winged following training here and move on to fly Navy: P-3, E-2, and C-2 Marine Corps: C-130 or V-22 Air Force: C-130 Coast Guard: C-130. |

I was attached to ATU-212 at North Field. The Squadron was made up of TV-2 & T-2V Lockheed Shooting Stars when I arrived. We later changed over to F9F-8 & 8T's Grumman Cougars. Our sister Squadron was ATU-202 that flew F9F-5 Panthers. In late 1959 or early 1960 another squadron was formed, ATU-222 that was outfitted with F11F tigers. At South Field was a training squadron of S2F's, ATU-402 and no others. During the above dates VT-22 was most likely attached to another base but was not at Kingsville
